Description
Can you sleep in a Cardboard Box for one night to help homeless children and their families?
Family Promise of North Idaho is proud to present the 10th annual event of Cardboard Box City Friday September 22 – Saturday morning September 23rd at the Community United Methodist Church 1470 W. Hanley Coeur d’Alene ID. Check in begins at 3:00p.m. on Friday and Check out is 8:00a.m. Saturday morning. Families, church groups, youth groups, businesses or individuals are all invited to participate. Participants can get registration forms online at www.familypromiseni.org, at the FPNI Day Center 501 E. Wallace, or in the foyer of BankCDA in Hayden. People participating are asked to give a donation and get donations from friends, families, colleagues, or acquaintances to help raise funds for Family Promise NI.
Cardboard Box City is an overnight event. Participants get pledges to have the honor of spending the night in a cardboard box for one night for those who sleep out in the cold many nights. People who want to participate bring cardboard; design a box shelter to sleep in, stand in a soup line for dinner, and brave the elements to experience a small part of what homeless children and their families experience every night in North Idaho. The evening of the event there will be entertainment, food, testimonials, a drawing for a bicycle, prizes, and comradery around the campfires.
The community is invited to visit the Cardboard Box City! For a donation of $5.00 visitors can vote on their favorite shelter, enjoy some soup, listen to the entertainment, and talk to the many volunteers providing help to homeless children and their families.
Support generated by Cardboard Box City will help to build toward providing families with full time case management which will assist the families in learning to combat and overcome the causes that led them to being homeless. With the help of FPNI, families establish goals for employment, housing, education, and childcare all while providing them a safe haven.
Donations can be made out to FPNI, put CBC in the memo and mail to FPNI P.O. Box 3682 Coeur d’Alene ID 83816 or go to the website www.familypromiseni.org and follow the links to give. For information contact Ali at: cardboardboxcitycda@gmail.com.
