Description

Uprooted: Japanese American Farm Labor Camps during WWII exhibit grand opening and program. Doors open at 4pm. David Milholland, Oregon Cultural Heritage Commission president and Uprooted project co-director, will present a program at 6pm, following the opening reception. It will include two short films, created from interviews with individuals who lived in and worked from Idaho and Oregon farm labor camps, and a PowerPoint presentation featuring revealing images taken by photographer Russell Lee and others. The talk will examine the vital role these farm workers and their families played during the war and their adaptation to challenging circumstances.  The showing of this exhibit was made possible by grants from the Idaho Humanities Council, a state-based program of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Idaho Community Foundation.
