Description
Did you know: The use of deicing salts like sodium or calcium chloride build up in the soil, just as they do with chemical fertilizers. The salt residue can then prevent plants from absorbing moisture and nutrients. But what other effects do deicing salts have when used frequently on long-stretches of highways like I-90?
Join us at Noon on Thursday, March 3rd at The Iron Horse Restaurant to hear Tyson Clyne with the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality discuss the surprising environmental impacts of deicing chemicals on pine trees and North Idaho streams adjacent to I-90 and the Fourth of July Pass.
