About Us

Lookout Pass Ski Area was the first Ski Area in ID to open beating out Sun Valley. The mountain opened on 12/24/1935. The area has tripled its skiable terrain since 2007 and is known as the #1 Powder Place in the Pacific Northwest. The mountain averages over 400'' of Dry Northern Rocky Mountains POWDER snow annually. The mountain now has 560 acres with 4 chairlifts including a new Quad installed winter 2019-20. There are 38 Trails and 4 marked glade skiing areas. This ''Affordable Family Ski Area'' has something for everyone. We offer learn to ski or ride in 3 days packages for those just starting out. We have a Race program for ages 7 to 17. The mountain has a reputation for impeccable grooming and a friendly staff. We provide AFFORDABLE SEASON PASSES for those who ski 5-8 times a year or more. As well as other products that help to keep skiing affordable like our Advantage Cards and Seasonal Rental Equipment. A Major Expansion is underway with Cat Skiing 21-22 & Lift Served terrain for winter 22-23. This doubles the size of the mountain bringing it to 1,023 acres and increasing the vertical to 1,650ft with 14 additional trails on Eagle Peak.

In the summer, Lookout is home to: The Route of the Hiawatha - Scenic Bike Trail, A Rail Trail Hall of Fame & The ''Crown Jewel'' of all Rail-to-Trails in the USA! Described as one of the most scenic stretches of converted Rail Trails in the USA. On this ride you will enjoy 10 Dark Tunnels & 7 Sky High Trestles along a 15 mile, all downhill bicycle ride.
