About
We strive to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of community throughout Idaho’s five northernmost counties. We focus our work on education, financial security, financial literacy, and health.
Our Work
UWNI supports local A.L.I.C.E.* families — households that are working but still struggling to afford basic needs — through funding, direct-service programs, volunteer engagement, and community partnerships.
UWNI works with other nonprofit organization in order to help address systemwide issues related to childcare access, housing instability, food insecurity, education, and healthcare. In addition to grantmaking, the organization leads collaborative initiatives such as early learning efforts, volunteer mobilization through Volunteer North Idaho, and community events like Day of Action and Spring Dash.
The organization’s approach centers on bringing nonprofits, businesses, schools, government agencies, and volunteers together to create long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes.
We emphasize strengthening systems of support so North Idaho families and communities can thrive.
*A.L.I.C.E. = Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed.
